Note: All IT or IT-related purchases must be routed through COE IT (msetech@iastate.edu) BEFORE purchase. This includes (but not limited to) computers, printers, monitors, keyboards and mice, iPads, OCS phones, and software.

This is primarily to ensure IT equipment fits into the ISU model but also to ensure IT has adequate resources to support equipment when it fails. IT also has experience with the various vendors available as well as knowledge of software licenses that may not always be published.

This procedure is not intended to be restrictive. The goal is to provide you with the best possible tools for your work. IT often has knowledge of other options that may not always be evident.

Note: List of ISU licensed software can be ordered through the ISU Bookstore’s TechCYte service. Email msetech@iastate.edu for assistance installing software. COE IT will do computer setup and configuration, software installation, hardware and software troubleshooting, and assist with hardware repair. They provide assistance with server connections and general instructions about computer use. To be eligible for COE Technology Support, the computer must have been purchased by a department or program within the College of Engineering for academic use OR purchased by grant money, or other money within a project or program, for academic use. COE IT does not provide technical support for personal computers or equipment purchased through institutions not affiliated with the college.
