Information on Submitting Samples

For Academic Use Only

We are hoping to receive requests to view samples from interested students, teachers, or just curious web viewers. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about submitting samples by emailing Prof. Scott Chumbley. We are especially looking for those of you from Iowa or from a university to send us your specimens. Submitted samples will appear in the image library with the name of the sample, the name of the student (or class) and school submitting the sample, and a short description of the sample. To submit a sample, fill out the form below and we will advise you via e-mail as to whether the sample is suitable for viewing in the SEM.

Not all samples can be viewed in the SEM. Generally the samples must be dry, non-living, and coated with some material to make them electrically conducting. We have the capability to mount and coat a wide range of samples.
